One full day. 12 full hours. Many giant steps. A defining moment in the world of Mannatech โ that is the impact of MannaLIVE!, April 25, 2020!
Who could have guessed what might happen?
When the team set out to create MannaLIVE!, their goal was bold. Under unusual circumstances, they needed to build a one-day virtual event that would replace MannaFest 2020, a full weekend of personal interaction with the Mannatech family from all over the world that offered new learning, recognition of achievements, sharing from outstanding leaders around the globe, some fun activities, and, of course, celebration. We could not have imagined several months ago that one full day โ a marathon of 12 hours of back-to-back, non-stop virtual information sharing โ could ever replace an event like MannaFest and shape our business for the balance of the year.
MannaLIVE! was a daunting project. To the best of our knowledge, such an event had never been attempted. The Mannatech staff fully embraced the idea, and, yes, it happened! If you did not participate in the live event, you will have the opportunity to review it in its entirety. For those of you who went the distance and experienced the marathon, you will want to go back and watch it again to re-experience the memory. We will always remember MannaLIVE! 2020! It was our defining moment during a time that we will never forget!
The event started with inspirational words of welcome from Ray Robbins, 3 Star Platinum Presidential Director and Co-Founder of Mannatech. Ray’s warmth and grace continue to be a reminder to everyone what Mannatech is all about. His message set the tone of what was to come. Kevin Robbins, Silver Presidential Director, took the reins of Master of Ceremonies for the first portion of the event. We were now off and running through the first phase of the marathon. Several corporate staff members and special speakers from the ranks of our Mannatech Associates started to light-up our day. It became apparent very quickly that our decisions to be a part of this event were already rewarding. Landen Fredrick, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, and Sarah Bowen, Director of the M5M Foundation, shared the vision and the cause for the M5M Foundation.
Landen introduced the new slogan for Mission 5 Million (M5M), Nourishing Hope, and the importance of Mannatech Associate’s contributions through sales effort and financial contributions. Every company wants to be known for excellence in the products, services and opportunities they provide. However, every company should also be known for its principles and values and the causes it supports. Mannatech has chosen a great cause: helping to feed the world’s most precious asset, our children, who may not be as fortunate as most of us. Nourishing Hope is a cause every Mannatech Associate can be proud to support. Through your sales performance and your financial contributions, every Mannatech Associate contributes to the cause.
Mannatech Chief Executive Officer and President Al Bala gave us the new vision for Mannatech. He shared why Mannatech is so timely in our world today and what we could expect to experience throughout the rest of MannaLIVE!. As the CEO, his enthusiasm for the moment was evident and spread to everyone on the live stream. If the CEO is this excited, we must be as well. He ignited more anticipation. Our marathon experience was about to hit full stride, and we were just getting warmed up.
Sona van der Hoop, Sr. Director of Business Development, provided valuable insights that helped the audience prepare for gaining the most from the day. Leone van der Linde, 2 Star Platinum Presidential Director, South Africa, was then introduced to share her Mannatech story and her support of Mission 5 Million. Leone found Mannatech while serving as a “soup mother” in South Africa, feeding about 500 children. She vividly described the Mannatech purpose from her perspective as participation in providing a blanket of glyconutrients over South Africa, being a part of a cause bigger than ourselves. As Leone talked about the “heart” of Mannatech, she touched the hearts of all participating in MannaLIVE!. She certainly moved this writer.
What happened next on the agenda was a series of presentations and learning that reinforced and enhanced pride in Mannatech products. The company must have a vision, strategic plans and good causes to support its principles and values. These elements are considered foundational to the business. The most important component of the foundation is the products and services the company offers. Most of us had seen Dr. Steve Nugent’s picture in the promotions for MannaLIVE!. Dr. Nugent is Mannatech’s Chief Science and Health Officer. In just 40 minutes, he gave the audience a class like no other. He taught us the importance of glyconutrients, Manapol and the products that have followed, all of which are designed to support the immune system.* Dr. Nugent answered many questions related to the selection of raw materials, formulation design, and pricing. It is the writer’s opinion that Mannatech Associates are fortunate to have a line of science-based dietary supplements as the foundation of the product line and business opportunity. During MannaLIVE!, pride in Mannatech products was not only reinforced, but it was also enlarged. Dr. Nugent emphasized Mannatech products, especially ImmunoSTART, Ambrotose, Manapol and GI-ProBalance, as being designed and formulated with a focus on our immune systems.*
Throughout the world, we are being reminded of the importance of taking care of our health and well-being. An estimated two-thirds of all Americans are estimated to be supplement users, and the total global market of nutritional supplements exceeds $200 billion. Supplementation of what we consume in our daily diets simply makes sense.
Dr. Nugent provided everyone who attended with the equivalent of a class or course on Mannatech products, their ingredients and quality standards. When we listen to Dr. Nugent, we are educated, we learn, and most importantly, we better understand why we should be so immensely proud to introduce Mannatech products to others. The scientific team, led by Dr. Nugent, has provided us with products that are foundational to every Mannatech Associate’s business.
After Kevin Robbins recapped the presentation by Dr. Nugent, Kevin introduced Tim Alvater, Director of Sales for North America, and Ben Mayo, Vice President of Marketing. They shared great news about the company’s focus on customer acquisition, retention, new tools and new rewards that are available when new customers and new Mannatech Associates place their orders. The new versions of the Power Seller Bonus become effective May 1, so additional rewards for acquiring and retaining customers now enhance the business opportunity and provide you with more reasons why customers will be interested in Mannatech.
Ben Mayo explained the incredible new features associated with the new app. With the app, it becomes so much easier to share all aspects of Mannatech with prospective customers and new Associates. Can you imagine being able to have Dr. Nugent in your smartphone with you at all times? Well, it just happened! This type of app brings Mannatech into the competitive world of the gig economy at an important moment in time.
Now that the foundation to the day was firmly established, the afternoon started with an update on M5M from both Landen Fredrick and Sarah Bowen, followed by a few inspiring words from Mannatech Chairman of the Board Stan Fredrick. Acknowledging the challenging times we are living in, Chairman Fredrick reminded us of the commitments made by some true American heroes, who found themselves in need of both inspiration and commitment to their own futures when faced with one of the most serious challenges of their lives. โNever give up and care about one another,” he said, most fitting words for all of us to hear. Following those words, Chairman Fredrick invited CEO Al Bala back to introduce John Fleming and his information about the gig economy phenomenon. As John described the gig economy, he explained why we should be paying attention to its developments. Both consumers and those seeking a part-time income look at the gig economy favorably. John indicated that approximately 80 percent of the labor force now views opportunities to earn part-time income as being appealing.
John reminded us that consumers are shopping more and more through non-traditional channels, as proven by the success of Amazon and its attraction of more than 100 million customers. John clearly indicated that the gig economy is about part-time income opportunities, not necessarily new careers. Approximately 57 million Americans are already involved, roughly 10 times the number of people who participate in part-time and full-time direct selling or network marketing opportunities. The role of technology in making it easier to do work in a flexible way has been key to the appeal gigs have created. The good news: Mannatech just stepped into the gig economy with its focus on customer acquisition, retention and exciting rewards for such a focus. The Mannatech app makes it easier than ever before to share Mannatech products and opportunity, build customers and attract new Mannatech Associates. These new assets, products and rewards for sharing the products are all designed to support Mannatech Associates, the ease with which they can get involved and attract and retain new customers to the brand.
At this point in the MannaLIVE! experience, a new Mannatech world of opportunity had been unveiled. To cap the discussion, Mannatech Silver Presidential Director Merri-Jo Hilaker presented ten solid reasons why Mannatech is, from her point of view, the ultimate gig opportunity! It was indeed an excellent presentation delivered by a Presidential Director and former attorney. The tone and vision for the next evolution of Mannatech were now set.
Demra Robbins took over the Master of Ceremonies role and continued to keep our energy and emotions high. Demra then led us into the balance of the afternoon, which provided MannaLIVE! participants with a wealth of insights and information relative to building a successful business. From Courtney Epps, tax strategist, to top Mannatech Associates representing Korea, Japan and Mexico, with special speakers Eric Worre, Todd Falcone, M.J. Durkin and Cesar Rodriguez, the audience received much more than anyone could have expected from one event. MannaLIVE! had certainly come to life, and there were many takeaways that all will vividly remember.
M.J. Durkin provided his five magical words when he discussed an extremely easy to understand approach to customer acquisition. He talked about the value and importance of asking questions, but his magic words were profound: “Can I make a recommendation?” When thinking about the possibilities, one has to wonder how many times a day or a week could we find a way to ask such a question and activate the opportunity to recommend our new friend inquire and explore Mannatech. Questions can be asked in so many different ways today due to our social tools and the tech support that is right within our smartphones. It is a wonderful new world, and Mannatech is leading you there!
As we approached the close of a magnificent experience, we settled in to hear our final speakers. Germain Rodriguez, Platinum Presidential Director from Mexico, was a most-fitting last speaker of the evening. Germain reminded us of all of the principles and values that had attracted him to Mannatech, the role hard work had played in his success and the importance of maintaining a high ethical standard. It was, indeed, an inspiring message, but it also was a guiding message, a reminder of the importance of protecting what we value and keeping the future in our sights.
Tim Altvater took over the Master of Ceremonies role in the early hours of the evening, and you would have thought Tim had just started his day when we knew he had participated early in the morning. Tim kept the event lively, and, after the final presentation by Germain, Tim provided us with a quick serenade with guitar and his cute dog looking on. It was an amazing day, and Landen Fredrick and Al Bala gave us their closing words. Both full of emotion, they displayed a lot of gratitude for all who had made the day possible, especially the staff who had worked tirelessly for days to make it happen. MannaLIVE! happened! You made it happen!
Al Bala had the very last words. The CEO was full of emotion. It had been an awesome day, the result of the pursuit of a vision, without any track record of previous success. The day had become a defining moment for Mannatech. As Al shared his closing words, he chose to invite everyone to a special Zoom worship hour Sunday morning. It was the perfect gesture and invitation by a company that puts gratitude in the business mix, along with outstanding principles and values!
