Direct Selling Day on Capitol Hill!
On September 10, 2014, the Direct Selling Association (DSA) held their second annual Direct Selling Day on Capitol Hill.
Independent Associates Ron and Paulette Roy traveled to Washington, D.C. to represent Mannatech at this national event. They, along with more than 500 independent direct selling consultants representing 28 companies, 30 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, met with members of Congress to share their personal stories about how direct selling has helped them achieve business and personal goals to create a better life.
“What an opportunity it was to go to these offices of our Congress and talk about what direct selling has done for us and how it has changed the lives of 1.7 million people,” said Paulette Roy. “We were able to share the impact Mannatech has on our lives and how it has opened doors even in the face of a turbulent economy. We shared how we as Associates bring hope and personal development to others. And, I saw how much respect they have for us. They were very impressed. Imagine the impact!”
The purpose of Direct Selling Day is to ensure that the nearly 17 million people involved in direct selling in the United States continue to have a bright future. The DSA is very instrumental in making sure policymakers understand the value that direct selling adds to their constituents and the economy.
“When you see real people who are living the business at a personal level, it recharges you and makes you feel terribly impressed. There’s just no replicating that enthusiasm,” said Adolfo Franco, executive vice president of DSA.
Direct Selling Day participants also signed the Direct Selling Proclamation and Compact, which is another way to ensure that elected officials understand the important role direct selling plays in the U.S. economy and the lives of millions of Americans.
